Delightful production April 10, 2011
By John Whelan
Although not traditional in the sense of being set in the 18th century, singers, costumes and set combine to give a traditional feel which suits the plot much better than the aggressively modern Harnoncourt production. The sound recording may not be quite so good and you may have to make adjustments if you want the widescreen format to fill an entire widescreen, but I enjoyed the performance very much more and this is the one I would like to see again. It shows what can be done with imagination and subtlety.
